“‘The Disembodied Adventures of Alice’ brought me many firsts as an actor. Collaborating with established artist and filmmaker Cléa Van Der Grijn was a first for me, as was delving into the world of experimental filmmaking. Van Der Grijn introduced a lot of new ideas to me when it comes to my process on screen and how I view storytelling.
As a small cast of four and only a handful of crew members, it was a very tight knit and intimate production. Weekend rehearsal intensives in the months preceding filming, coupled with Van Der Grijn’s thorough preparation, offered a level of engagement in screen work that was entirely new to me.
Navigating this project was undeniably a positive learning experience, presenting me with challenges that pushed me to grow in unexpected ways. “

“‘Ann’ gave me my first major role in a feature film and it was undoubtedly a very special production to be a part of. Telling the true story of Ann Lovett, a name synonymous with a very dark time in Irish society, this film sheds a light on the last day of her life.
I turned 17 during the filming of ‘Ann’, which is only two years older than Ann Lovett was when she died, and three years older than my character, Patricia, when she took her own life three months after Ann’s death. Realising that this tragedy happened only a generation before mine made the story all the more poignant.
There was little to no available information about my character Patricia and so much of my characterisation of her was based on what I knew about her sister Ann. I approached the role keenly aware that I was depicting a real life person with family and friends. The care and sensitivity that came with that is something I keep in mind every time I approach a character.
Naturally this production had some very emotionally taxing scenes to film, and they were undoubtedly a challenge to me. I learned a lot about pacing myself as an actor for these heavier scenes, and my duty of care to myself in those situations.
‘Ann’ will always be a project very close to my heart, and I am honoured to have played a part in telling such an important story.“

“‘Halal Daddy’ was my first experience of a film set at the age of eleven, and what an exciting experience it was! I am very lucky to have worked alongside renown Irish actor Colm Meaney at such a young age. It also felt great to be a part of spotlighting my home town. The film digs into the hidden charm of Sligo and its characters and it was wonderful to be involved in the production at such a young age.
I distinctly remember the care taken by McDerrmottroe and the whole cast and crew when it came to making me feel comfortable on set. This was my first taste of screen acting and once I got over the impulse to look directly down the lens, I was hooked on the feeling of being in front of a camera!“
